For example, when he went home to spend the recent holidays with his parents in Fairfield, Conn., he never even mentioned his new girlfriend. “Jessica didn’t come up once in conversation,” John’s dad, Richard, tells In Touch exclusively. But Richard insists his son is “very private” about his love life. “We never pry,” he tells In Touch.

Jessica Simpson Donates Minivan to Mexican Orphanage

Jessica Simpson was in a giving mood Sunday when she donated a brand new minivan to the Mexican orphanage she supports, PEOPLE has learned.

The pop star, 26, drew cheers when she drove through the gates of the Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, in a white 2007 Chrysler Town & Country and handed the keys to Mama Lupita, who runs the home.

"The kids were cheering when she pulled up," Simpson's rep tells PEOPLE. "They surrounded the car and were so excited to see her. They kept saying, 'Muchas gracias! Muchas gracias!' A few of them spoke English and said, 'We love you, Jessica!' "

Mama Lupita, who speaks little English, was the first to give Simpson a big hug.

"I'm so honored and happy to be able to help," said Simpson, who hugged Mama Lupita and the throng of kids who had waited anxiously to see her and presented her with gifts, including an engraved plaque with a photo of the kids and a beaded necklace they'd made for her.

Simpson laughed when a mariachi band burst onto the scene to serenade her (the kids had saved up to hire the group by selling jewelry they crafted themselves).

"What an amazing surprise!" Simpson said, putting her hand on her heart.

Simpson was there with her mother Tina (who rode in the passenger seat when her daughter drove the minivan onto the orphanage's grounds), her manager father Joe and a few others. Boyfriend John Mayer stayed in L.A.

Last fall, Simpson won a Chrysler Crossfire sports car at a swag suite at the MTV's Video Music Awards, but asked Chrysler to exchange it for a minivan so she could help out the orphanage.

A spokesperson for Chrysler confirmed: "Instead of the Chrysler Crossfire, she decided to get a minivan for the orphanage instead. She went for the Chrysler Town & Country."

The van Mama Lupita had been using for the orphanage broke down last year. She borrowed an old truck from a friend, but that broke down too, leaving her with no transportation for the children.

The seven-passenger minivan even has a DVD player so the kids can watch their favorite movies when Mama Lupita drives them around.

Mayer strolled into the 'Wanna Buy a Watch' shop on Mar. 16 in West Hollywood, where he purchased 'his and hers' Rolex watches.

Star Magazine scoops: 'He clearly had Jessica on his mind during his shopping spree.

"He talked about Jessica the whole time he was here," a store staffer tells Star.

The next day, John was spotted at a Gelson's supermarket in L.A., buying blue wrapping paper, no doubt to wrap his gift for Jessica.'

Jessica is to flaunt her flesh when she hosts a Pussycat Dolls show in Las Vegas.

The actress-and-singer will flaunt her impressive cleavage and curves as she hosts a special performance by the pop group and dance troupe at their themed lounge in Las Vegas' PURE nightclub on May 4.

A source said: "This is a chance for her to be sexy and get back in the spotlight."

It seems as though there might be a some trouble in paradise for lovebirds Jessica Simpson and John Mayer. The couple has been getting closer over the course of their 8 month relationship and some news sources have even speculated a potential proposal in the near future. While the pair has been seen everywhere together, the most recent pictures are indication of the unhappiness they are feeling in their relationship. According to numerous sources, John is getting somewhat annoyed with Jess' incessant need to party with her friends. A pal close to Mayer claims that John 'can't stand the nightclub scene' and has told Jess to 'think about what was more important to her - partying or their relationship' while sources close to Jessica claim that she misses her friends and wants her old life back.

Jessica Simpson’s Charity Boot Auction

Jessica Simpson has placed a pair of autographed high-heeled leather boots on eBay in an attempt to raise some cash for charity. The “I Belong To Me” singer is planning on donating every last penny from the sale to Sole4Souls, a charity which provides shoes to poverty-stricken people.

On the eBay page for the boots, it is claimed that all you have to do is “slip into Jessica’s ultra-glam boots and you will instantly feel like the bombshell you are.” So far, Jessica’s boots have attracted more than 40 bids since they went on sale on April 11.
The knee length, size seven boots have four-and-a-half inch heels and both feature the singer’s signature in flowery silver handwriting, with a few kisses.

Currently, the top bid stands at $620, with the auction ending on May 13th.

On a side note, tt’s nice to see Jessica’s newly-found passion for charity work. In February, she donated an eight-passenger minivan to a Mexican orphanage.

Jessica Simpson is so close to her mother Tina, that she even discusses her sex life with her.

The singer, in the Mother's Day report from the In Touch Weekly, says that her mother is the one she turns to for all sorts of advice - even if that means telling her about all that goes on in the bedroom.

"My family is really close. I talk to my mom about my sex life!" the National Ledger quoted her, as telling the mag.

Jessica also reveals that she is grateful that her mother was always there for her and little sister Ashlee.

"She taught aerobics in the morning and then just, you know, packed our lunches and made our beds and the whole thing," Jessica remembers.

And while Tina was a stay-at-home mom before her daughters became famous, she now works with Jessica, 26, on her clothing and beauty lines, has appeared in both Jess' and younger daughter Ashlee's MTV reality shows.

Jessica Simpson’s body may be a wonderland, but John Mayer has had enough of it. The pair have called off their relationship.

It’s hard to tell what went wrong, but there are many theories floating around. One source for the New York Daily News claims John didn’t like Jessica’s revealing outfits, while another said that the couple’s constant “separations were difficult."

A tattler told InTouch Weekly, "She still loves him, but he's not stable. He's scared of commitment.” But Us Weekly’s snitch said, "[John] was just over her. He wasn't into her anymore. He was ready to move on.” And their may have been another woman. An insider told NYDN that John "was always seeing [a Los Angeles model named Caroline] anyway."

But perhaps there’s hope for the couple. An insider told NYDN that "they've broken up about a dozen times this year, and they've always come back together. They're adorable together."
